Do you happen to have a better argument? Let me know because I am willing to learn something new everyday.
I did just that three days ago while watching a news item on the FOX cable network news about the upsurge in the uptake of Wii exercise consoles.
The presenter had asked the gym instructor, Suru Long, what he had against Wii exercise within the comfort of one’s home, especially with regard to setting a good example for the kids to emulate as they grew up.
He said, rather wittily I thought, that the main difference was that you burn more calories at the gym, even though you could do lunges and punch the air, do hoola hoops and pushups in front of the TV standing on a bathroom scale size electronic console.
Then, he asked, “Why not just go outside to the gym and let the air blow through your hair?” Good point; fresh air is healthy. However, that also implies that outdoor exercises or sports, like walking, field sports, and running or jogging, are superior to both Wii and gym exercises.
What are the main differences between Wii exercise and the older aerobics? For one thing, Wii seems to be the modern version of the initially video-based aerobic exercises.
Well, yes, aerobic exercises burn more calories than Wii and can be done outdoors easily. Wii has yet to fully leave the parlor, living room, or wherever the TV is, unless a power outlet is located outdoors conveniently.
So, what is your Wii exercise experience and opinion? Is it worth the bother?
