The inspiration for this post came from a T-shirt I saw some time ago. It had on it an anti-HIV/AIDS message simply stated as follows: AIDS is real, stick to one partner.
That got me thinking about an old movie I saw about the life and times of Casanova, the legendary Italian philanderer.
In the film, he abandoned his wife for other women far and wide and came home only when his wife proved to him – with his own unique heirloom ring – that he was the one who had gotten her pregnant without even knowing/realizing that she had come to him in disguise in another town.
So, this post is my own small contribution to the worthwhile preventive scheme initiated by UNICEF and other worthy NGOs.
Hopefully, you too will pass the message along. My message is in the following lines of optimistically 'poetic' prose:
It used to be that some swank young men
Well set in their womanizing ways
Of putting a notch on their belt of accomplishments,
Got a high five and a double wink from their compatriots.
Since then, our world turned out new wine and dine rules
And allowed new scenarios to play out before our very eyes,
Emphasizing prevention, abstinence, or protection from the same tongue.
These days, such promiscuous young men may be troubled by a double dose of 'high vee' and a jinx.
You would be wrong if you think that is all right and dandy
Because I do not mean hives or anything so sober.
I am talking about our world finding a permanent way to avoid moving beyond
Hi5 and a wink to HiV and a jinx!
Technology and life have a chicken and egg relationship. Life derives a new meaning from technology, while the living strive to improve technology so that life flourishes safely and healthily... Do indulge awhile: words have an impact!
