Weight and happiness or lightening/lifting of the spirits are often intertwined for those with a weight problem.
Actually, there really should not be anything called a ‘weight’ problem because you
are as heavy as you feel: it is all in the mind.
The key to weight loss and wellbeing that I have discovered is akin to the fabled principle of mind over matter.
In this case, the ‘matter’ is definitely food! There have been numerous experiments and research studies on foods and their effects, along with umpteenth-number level of theories floating around the health circuits.
Some examples of facts that I have gleaned from past research results include:
The older you get, the less food you need to eat.
Exercise and less food intake works very well for weight loss.
Weight alone should not be the most important yardstick/factor in identifying good health characteristics/traits.
Avoid fatty and junk foods and go for fresh fruits with a balanced low-calorie diet.
The list goes on and on. However, my observations indicate that weight loss has more to do with bravery than anything else.
Think about it. Can you see mouth-watering/delicious/good food and resist/reject it? Can you stare back at a juicy dinner steak and say no to most of it on your plate?
I mean, if you normally take seven slices of bread with your morning beverage as part of your breakfast, why not try just two slices instead?
If your weight bothers you, just lift a finger or shake a leg - dance, wash dishes or clothes by hand, and whatever else - but just do something to work up a sweat regularly.
If you sit around doing nothing but eat, watching the TV or lying in bed all day long, your body will have no incentive to lose fat and no reason at all to make you wish to put your best foot forward.
I have found that eating just enough to offset my hunger and drinking just enough to assuage my thirst does me a world of good. So does a walk, doing chores around the house, gardening, and even holding up a book to read.
I am able to maintain a hard body, feel light and quick on my feet, and get a sensation of satisfaction/achievement from the appreciative looks of ladies who do not know that I am already married!
Is that not what feeling/looking good is all about? Find your favorite exercise routine and just do it!
