Michael Jackson at rest in perfect peace

That name is uniquely recognizable. My ten-year-old son does the Moon Walk for practice.

People call my number twice just to listen again to my ringback tone of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal".

Even my normally strict 70-year-old boss recently called my cellphone line twice just to listen to the song.

On the second ring, I answered and he asked, "what kind of music is that?" Ha-ha... I told him, and he said, "Oh, I thought that I had been trying to get someone else when I dialed your number."

Yeah, well, yes, I am certainly nobody's smooth criminal, that's for sure, but that song and numerous others like "Human Nature" - I still hum it well after the memorial service - just drive me to youthful wildness mentally, so to speak.

Nigeria's MTN telecoms operator, a sponsor of Project Fame, a musical reality TV show, recently showcased Michael Jackson songs with Marlon Jackson as one of the judges on the sing-and-dance show. Many more examples abound of people trying to imitate him.

However, as the inimitable Reverend Al Sharpton uniquely worded it during MJ's memorial service at The Staples Center, Michael Jackson was "...oft imitated but never duplicated."

Watching that Project Fame special episode showed me clearly that singing and dancing coherently to a hot dance beat is a very difficult thing to accomplish simultaneously.

Anyway, he always was a tough act to follow. Who else would make a big production number out of everything?

If MJ was really diagnosed with a split personality in his youth, that may partly explain his precocious talent and musical gifts.

He was plainly misunderstood both deliberately and ignorantly. If you ask me, many people have made a mountain out of a mole hill with respect to his skin color change.

Some have gone as far as saying that MJ was ashamed of his Black heritage. I think that nothing could be further from the truth.

Of course, none of those people saying such ridiculous things ever watched Eddie Murphy in his Saturday Night Live days on TV.

One of Eddie Murphy's favorite segments on the live comedy show was when he would dress up - with makeup, white-skin tone gloves, wig and all - and just trundle down a New York Street looking and talking like a real White person.

It had been hilarious then. Now, MJ went a step further by taking the concept a bit higher with a real life transformation through a medical procedure that nobody else has so far dared to follow.

How did he attain his skin colour change? Nobody seems to care enough to reveal the process in technical terms. It was obviously quite safe, in my humble opinion.

Of course, I am not advocating that anyone should try it out - you'd have to be heavily wadded to do it anyway - any time but the point I am making is that the medical doctors failed him most wickedly when it came to the final phase of the operation: giving him aquiline features.

Medical procedures and expertise in the cosmetic surgery field have yet to catch up with the kind of big-picture imagination and unique genius that was peculiarly Michael Jackson's.

Now, imagine what would have happened if those plastic surgeons had done their job perfectly instead of collecting money in exchange for their yet unrefined skills and phony doubtful promises of non-quackery....

Just in case you still do not get it, Michael Jackson proved that, just as a light skinned person can become dark skinned from cancer-causing sun tanning - Berlusconi said as much about Obama - both indoors and outdoors, a dark skinned person can become light skinned without using cancer-causing bleaching creams!

R.I.P., Michael....

UPDATE - Friday, September 04, 2009:

According to the following article, almost as if rendered by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, MJ was interred in a "blaze of glory" at the Forest Lawn Glendale cemetery today, with a sad but mysterious back-lighting from the currently ravaging - Firefighters gaining on Los Angeles-area wildfire - arson-suspected Los Angeles suburb forest fires.

UPDATE - Thursday, September 17, 2009:

The scheduling of Michael Jackson's final send-off concert has had some hiccups during the organization stages.

Originally to be in Vienna, Austria - don't ask me why - but has now been moved to London - probably KOP's favorite city abroad - but reportedly postponed to June next year!
