Everyone makes mistakes. I apologize profusely for mine: speaking too frankly sometimes. I normally do not do that, for anyone or any body.
Anyway, however, after reviewing this post -and the resultant rebuttals - some of them can be considered even quite rude - and attendant breaking of form by the Nobel Committee members in Oslo, this actually really humble Nigerian has come to the conclusion that my words may have hit home as accurately as a dynamite Mayweather Junior classic combination punch.
I used the phrase 'quite rude' above because of the comment of the newbie member from Bergen, who had reportedly lashed out at critics of the Obama Nobel as follows: "....Where do these people come from?....."
So, only people from rich nations should criticize goof ups by policy makers in rich nations? The slave trade and colonialism might as well still be ongoing businesses to him?
Yes, no apologies to whosoever's ox may have been gored. And, yes, POTUS Obama may be worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize award but, surely, not in advance - even a genius like Einstein got his in Physics in 1921 in arrears!
Einstein's words: (originally about Carl von Ossietzky, the Germany-incarcerated and duped winner of the peace prize in 1935) "....The abstention from the solution of human problems by brute force is the task today as it was then....."
Perhaps, the parliament selected five noble Norwegian Nobel peace prize committee members should have cited Einstein's words (from Einstein, A. (1950) Out of My Later Years ,241 Wings Books New York. [rev. ed., 1956], Citadel Press, Secaucus, N. J.) as the reason for giving Obama the peace prize - ideally next year, when I would have had no quarrel with whom honor is due taking the credit, of course!
The British Prime Minister has sent in 500 more troops into Afghanistan, in spite of the almost daily carnage and casualties on their side.
Now the Nobel committee is trying dictate American foreign and military policy as well as aiming to force the hand of the POTUS, with regard to US participation in wars on foreign soil, global nuclear arms disarmament, and probably climate change, and so on.
How can Obama now send in US reinforcements to aid the Afghans against Al-Qaeda when he has just been declared - and has publicly accepted to be - a man of peace?
Talk about using a price to buy a politician and a prize to influence international politics and world leaders! So, Obama seems to be left holding the bag on that one and has no other choice as Obama, aides debate options for Afghanistan ....
Technology and life have a chicken and egg relationship. Life derives a new meaning from technology, while the living strive to improve technology so that life flourishes safely and healthily... Do indulge awhile: words have an impact!
