Amazing - simply amazing how a speech can get you a Nobel Prize for Peace these days, I thought, at first.
Bush remorse at work, lack of quality persons to choose from... Of course, Reverend Sun M. Moon's idea of world peace through his deca-annual multi-kilo-couple international wedding nuptials in South Korea would probably not qualify for a Nobel prize any time soon.
All these and similar options found me trying to rationalize this very surprising outcome, in my humble opinion.
It is more than just an educated guess that it will be another fifty years before all the details pertaining to this political decision will be released for public consumption - whether the sedate committee members should be drug tested, submitted to a breathalyzer test in the future, or dusted forensically for traces of exploded Nobel-dynamite fumes is quite another matter!
Then, I began to read the mixed reactions about what the other world leaders had to say, all the mostly negative things that US media were saying, and the fact that serendipity could have come for Obama via Michelle's ancestry from Ghana through Melvina and Dolphus.
Soon, I realized that it was not the Swedish Academy of Science but rather the Norwegian Nobel Prize Committee which was responsible for this rushed anomaly - like giving a College degree to a Freshman student!
Congratulations, dear POTUS - you are definitely the luckiest person alive today! 12 days of post-inauguration work and a UN speech and - pow! - you win a prized Nobel...Wow!
